Disc motor SMC stator core

The traditional silicon steel sheet is also called electrical steel, the full name of the electrical silicon steel sheet, mainly used as a variety of motors, generators and transformers of the core. Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) material is a kind of block material which is formed by coating the surface of iron powder particles with insulating material and then pressing it by powder metallurgy process. Compared with the traditional electrical silicon steel sheet, SMC material has the advantages of isotropy, low loss, easy processing and low cost, it can be widely used in electromagnetic devices with three-dimensional magnetic circuit topology, such as spherical motors, claw-pole motors, axial flux motors, etc. The magnetic flux of the claw-pole motor has both radial and axial directions in the stator. All parts of the claw-pole motor can also consider SMC materials to design the motor stator core. SMC material is the iron powder and additives through high pressure, high temperature curing molding, in the iron powder to add insulating film to reduce the material's eddy current loss, but also reduce the permeability of the material, increase the material's low frequency hysteresis loss. Only when the magnetic circuit of some special motors such as claw pole and disc structure motors is a three-dimensional structure, SMC materials can play an advantage over silicon steel materials. Compared with the silicon steel material, when the operating frequency is about 1000Hz, the loss of SMC material is equivalent to that of silicon steel.
